Cooking Tool Thursday: Cutting board

Epicurian Cutting Board

If you invest in a good knife, you need to invest in a good cutting board.  And while nice big natural wood boards are awesome, they can be pricey, heavy and bulky and often require special care (like oiling and hand washing).  If you want a board that is gentle on your knife, easy to clean, affordable and light weight yet sturdy, check out the Epicurean Non-Slip Series.

THIS  is what I use and I love it because it is light weight, gentle on my knife, stays in place while I chop (thanks to silicon grippers), it’s nonporous so it keeps out bacteria AND, it’s dishwasher safe. Phew!

That being said, I do think it’s important to keep a separate board for raw meat just to be certain you aren’t cross contaminating.  I recommend this OXO plastic board.  It too is sturdy, dishwasher safe and has the great grippers on the edge to keep it in place.

A good cutting board really does make a difference. Get one.  I promise you won’t regret it.
